Anil Deshmukh s eventful journey in Maharashtra politics hits a roadblock

Synopsis
Deshmukh (70), who hails from Wadvihira village near Katol in Nagpur district, began as an independent MLA in 1995, extending support to the then Shiv Sena-led government - in which BJP was a partner - and was made a minister of state.

Deshmukh recently scored a self-goal in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly while attacking the BJP and claiming how good is the law and order situation in Maharashtra.

Except for the Devendra Fadnavis- led government during 2014-19, Anil Deshmukh has managed to find a berth in the state ministry irrespective of which party came to power in the last over two decades. That journey hit a roadblock on Monday as he quit the Uddhav Thackeray-led ministry after the Bombay High Court ordered a CBI probe into the allegations of extortion against him by former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh.

GUWAHATI: Viable steps will be taken to solve the age-old issues of the masses, said candidate of Congress for Guwahati East Constituency, Ashima Bordoloi while addressing the media here on Sunday. She added, Despite being the representative of this Constituency and also Cabinet Minister for the last five years, Siddhartha Bhattacharya totally failed to live up to the expectations of the masses here. He did not take any practical steps to tackle any of the myriad problems that the citizens are facing in and around the Gateway to the Northeast Guwahati.
Elaborating on the issues, Ashima said, Stress will be laid on making tapped water accessible to each household, improve the lanes and road and also the drainage system besides tackling the menace of artificial floods. Another area of concern that cries for early solution is the insecurity being faced by the girls and women.

Surjewala said as per the French portal s report, an investigation conducted by the ‘French Anti-Corruption Agency (AFA) has revealed that after signing of the deal in 2016, Rafale s manufacturer Dassault allegedly paid €1.1 million to a middleman Defsys Solutions which is an Indian company.
